Day 1: Batumi
Batumi is the pearl of the Black Sea – a lively, vibrant city that combines exquisite old buildings, historical squares, and contemporary art and architecture:
› Tour Batumi and visit the main tourist attractions;
› Sail across the Black Sea in a yacht.
Day 2: Batumi - Kutaisi - Batumi
Today we follow the footsteps of the Argonauts, Jason, and Medea and travel from the coastal area of the Black Sea to Kutaisi, the ancient capital of the mythological kingdom of Kolkheti. According to the legend, this is where the Golden Fleece was kept.
› Tour the Monastic Complex of Gelati that dates back to the 12th century. Gelati Monastery is comprised of the Church of Virgin Mary, with its marvelous frescoes and mosaic decoration, alongside a number of small churches, and an ancient Academy of Science and Education—all of which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
› Tour the Bagrati Cathedral. First erected in the 11th century, the cathedral has undergone an extraordinary transformation in recent years and as a result, turned into an interesting fusion of old and new architecture.
Day 3: Batumi - Mestia - Batumi
The best experience of your life awaits you in the heart of the Greater Caucasus: Svaneti Mountains. It is the kingdom of gigantic summits, permanently snow-covered mountain peaks, thunderous rivers and medieval towers. Guests are almost always guaranteed to be drawn to Ushguli, one of the oldest and highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe. Recognized as a World Heritage Site, Ushguli is a place where time stands still and its ancient watchtowers keep a watchful eye over the highest peak in all of Georgia — Shkhara (5,201 m).
› Hop on our helicopter flight to Ushguli. We’ll visit medieval village of Ushguli and get a bird’s eye view of Mount Shkhara.
› Tour the Museum of Mestia which houses the centuries-old treasures of Georgia.
› End the day with a heartwarming dinner at a local home in Svaneti. Our host will prepare a delicious home cooked meal using age-old secret recipes.
