Reasons to Love Georgia in Spring

Spring Freshness

Spring in Georgia brings blooming flowers, warmer days and activities of all kinds. From outdoor adventures that take advantage of the great weather to favorite events that only happen once a year, here are some of the best reasons to visit Georgia in Springtime.

Weather conditions

The weather is great! We believe it is better than the fall because the nights don’t get as cold. You still get the same great temperatures in the day but without all the cold at night. There is absolutely nothing better than being in a hammock when the temperature is in the low 25s and you have a nice breeze.

Nothing. But let’s not forget about those April showers. The ones that blow in out of nowhere and catch you by surprise in the middle of your 4 mile hike. We will try not to think about those pop up showers that leave you cold and wet on your hike back in the rain and instead think about all the hammock opportunities.

This is one of our favorite times of year to head out and not worry about the weather too much. We know it’s going to rain, so we just plan for rain. What does that mean? We bring a rain jacket and umbrella, and split our plans into half indoors and half outdoors. Flexibility is the key. We know you will enjoy spring in  Georgia as much as we do!

The crowds are smaller

Early spring has the fewest tourists, which is great for you because prices are much lower than other times of the year.

The woods are virtually all yours. Museums, markets, really everything is still open, and not only are there fewer people getting in your photos, you will typically have some gorgeous flowers adorning the area.

Festivals and Celebrations

The most important holiday in spring in Georgia is Easter. Orthodox Easter is celebrated at variable dates of March-May. Georgia, as one of the oldest Christian countries in the world, has always celebrated Easter in a special way. Even special tours are also arranged for this date.

High temples and centuries-old monasteries with ancient paintings emphasize the special importance of religion in the history of Georgia. Ancient Easter traditions are still preserved in modern Georgia. It is symbolic and special to spend the glorious feast of Easter in a centuries-old orthodox country.

Wine Festival in Tbilisi

The “New Wine Festival” –  the aim of this festival is to popularize Georgian traditional pitcher wine, discover new varieties and places, raise the level of wine education in Georgia, and increase consumer culture.

The holding vessels are opened in spring, and winemakers bring them out for locals to taste. The venue of the festival changes each year, as do the companies participating in the event. Attending such an event is a great way to taste and get to know Georgian wine and learn about the traditional winemaking methods that are used.

Guests will be able to taste hundreds of wines, get acquainted with local Georgian wine producers, and make unforgettable memories while discovering new and exciting tastes.

Writing all these benefits Georgia has in spring has made me more excited for the months ahead.  Hope to see you in old Tbilisi’s narrow streets with your cameras or in the mountains on a trek under the April shower. Enjoy however you spend the spring months in Georgia.
